Description
It's sunset, the twilight sky is turning from bright white/yellow colors of the sun to the pinks, purples, and blues ... eventually to become that dark blue/black of the night sky. The dead tree in the foreground frames a quarter moon as it becomes more highlighted against the darkening sky. I wonder, was it a fire that killed the tree (as is all too common now in California)? Was it possibly struck by lightning? Whatever the cause, it's skeletal remains create a lovely (almost) silhouette against a beautifully pastel-colored sky. This particular shot was captured in the Mammoth Lakes area of eastern California atop one of the local mountains.
