This image is a composite of multiple images taken during the entire eclipse sequence of the total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017 at Madras Oregon. The outer ring of the picture includes various stages of the eclipse including seeing a ring of fire around the new moon, Bailey's Beads, and the Diamond Ring. The middle image is one of several I captured during totality which shows a ring of fire around the moon with solar flares visible in the ring. The very center image is the Diamond Ring, a moment just prior to totality where the last bit of sunlight peeks around a tangent of the moon's surface to create what appears to be a giant diamond ring in the sky.
