Lake Almanor is a reservoir fed by the north fork of the Feather River located in Northeastern California that is a popular destination for such recreational activities as boating, swimming, water skiing, fishing and even camping. The southern shore of the lake is located in Lassen National Forest and it was because of my visit to Lassen National Park that I happened along Lake Almanor on this spectacular summer morning.

It was a large group of pelican’s swimming in the water and diving for fish that first caught my eye as I was driving by (you can see a couple of them just to the right side of the image and the very gentle ripples in the water from their leisure progression as they swam on by). But after stopping to do a little bird watching of the pelicans, I must admit, it was the spectacular view of this amazing recreational destination that was too good to pass up without whipping out my camera for a photo or two.
